Explorer — Scenario Builder
Pre-onboarding tool for prospects to explore indicative weather risk profiles by location, peril, and industry.
The Explorer is a pre-onboarding tool that lets prospects explore indicative weather risk profiles before committing to a subscription. Select a location, a weather peril, and an industry — and see an instant risk profile.
Four-Step Wizard
Step 1 — Location
Choose from 12 preset regions or enter custom latitude/longitude coordinates:
Preset regions: Singapore, Dubai, Mumbai, Jakarta, Riyadh, Hong Kong, Sydney, Nairobi, São Paulo, Tokyo, Lagos, London
Custom coordinates allow prospects to evaluate any location globally.
Step 2 — Weather Peril
Select the primary weather risk:
| Peril | Description |
|---|---|
| Extreme Heat | Temperature exceeding operational thresholds |
| Extreme Cold | Temperature below operational thresholds |
| Excess Rainfall | Cumulative or intensity-based rainfall thresholds |
| Drought | Extended below-normal rainfall periods |
| High Wind | Sustained wind speed exceeding operational limits |
| Solar Shortfall | Irradiance below PPA or generation expectations |
Step 3 — Industry
Select the industry context (this adjusts exposure multipliers and cost metrics):
| Industry | Exposure Metric | Cost Unit |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure | Delay days | $/day |
| Solar Energy | Generation shortfall (MWh) | $/MWh |
| Wind Energy | Generation shortfall (MWh) | $/MWh |
| Agriculture | Yield reduction (%) | $/hectare |
| Utilities | Demand variance (MW) | $/MW |
| Transport | Disruption events | $/event |
| Tourism | Visitor reduction (%) | $/day |
| Mining | Operational downtime | $/hour |
Step 4 — Risk Profile
The Explorer generates an indicative risk profile across four severity tiers:
| Tier | Description | Typical Annual Probability |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Within expected range | 40–60% |
| Elevated | Moderate weather stress | 20–35% |
| Severe | Significant operational impact | 5–15% |
| Extreme | Major disruption event | 1–5% |
Each tier shows: annual probability, gross financial exposure, warranty recovery (Tier 2), derivative payout (Tier 3), net exposure, and indicative premium.
Protection Waterfall
The Explorer includes a visual waterfall showing how protection reduces exposure at each tier:
Gross Exposure → Tier 2 Warranty Recovery → Tier 3 Derivative Payout → Net Client Exposure
Product Recommendation
Based on the risk profile, the Explorer suggests an appropriate product structure:
- Low exposure → Tier 1 Analytics (monitoring only)
- Moderate exposure → Tier 2 Warranted Analytics (cash warranty)
- High exposure → Tier 3 Parametric Derivative (full financial protection)
Explorer results are indicative estimates for pre-onboarding purposes only — not contract-grade pricing. Actual risk profiles and derivative pricing require full onboarding, site-specific data integration, and engine calibration.
