Explorer — Scenario Builder

Pre-onboarding tool for prospects to explore indicative weather risk profiles by location, peril, and industry.

The Explorer is a pre-onboarding tool that lets prospects explore indicative weather risk profiles before committing to a subscription. Select a location, a weather peril, and an industry — and see an instant risk profile.

Four-Step Wizard

Step 1 — Location

Choose from 12 preset regions or enter custom latitude/longitude coordinates:

Preset regions: Singapore, Dubai, Mumbai, Jakarta, Riyadh, Hong Kong, Sydney, Nairobi, São Paulo, Tokyo, Lagos, London

Custom coordinates allow prospects to evaluate any location globally.

Step 2 — Weather Peril

Select the primary weather risk:

PerilDescription
Extreme HeatTemperature exceeding operational thresholds
Extreme ColdTemperature below operational thresholds
Excess RainfallCumulative or intensity-based rainfall thresholds
DroughtExtended below-normal rainfall periods
High WindSustained wind speed exceeding operational limits
Solar ShortfallIrradiance below PPA or generation expectations

Step 3 — Industry

Select the industry context (this adjusts exposure multipliers and cost metrics):

IndustryExposure MetricCost Unit
InfrastructureDelay days$/day
Solar EnergyGeneration shortfall (MWh)$/MWh
Wind EnergyGeneration shortfall (MWh)$/MWh
AgricultureYield reduction (%)$/hectare
UtilitiesDemand variance (MW)$/MW
TransportDisruption events$/event
TourismVisitor reduction (%)$/day
MiningOperational downtime$/hour

Step 4 — Risk Profile

The Explorer generates an indicative risk profile across four severity tiers:

TierDescriptionTypical Annual Probability
NormalWithin expected range40–60%
ElevatedModerate weather stress20–35%
SevereSignificant operational impact5–15%
ExtremeMajor disruption event1–5%

Each tier shows: annual probability, gross financial exposure, warranty recovery (Tier 2), derivative payout (Tier 3), net exposure, and indicative premium.

Protection Waterfall

The Explorer includes a visual waterfall showing how protection reduces exposure at each tier:

Gross Exposure → Tier 2 Warranty Recovery → Tier 3 Derivative Payout → Net Client Exposure

Product Recommendation

Based on the risk profile, the Explorer suggests an appropriate product structure:

  • Low exposure → Tier 1 Analytics (monitoring only)
  • Moderate exposure → Tier 2 Warranted Analytics (cash warranty)
  • High exposure → Tier 3 Parametric Derivative (full financial protection)

Explorer results are indicative estimates for pre-onboarding purposes only — not contract-grade pricing. Actual risk profiles and derivative pricing require full onboarding, site-specific data integration, and engine calibration.
